You said that I could get involved if I wanted to. What would be the onboarding process for that? The standards and requirements are similar to state licensure, but you don't get licensed by the state. Instead, you get certified by the VA. I won't lie, the process is a little extensive, but for good reason. The individuals taking care of our veterans are dealing with a vulnerable population. A team of professionals, including myself, a nurse, a dietician, a fire safety specialist, and a physical therapist, conduct inspections to ensure that potential caregivers are experienced, skilled, and have the heart and wherewithal to do this kind of thing. They also assess the home to ensure it meets safety standards. On the other side of the equation, if I'm a veteran and I'm interested in this program, how might I become involved with it?
